1. The Delivery Vehicle: Choosing Your Syringe Volume
Consider the syringe as the measuring cup for your experiment. If you are baking a cake and need a teaspoon of vanilla, you don't use a gallon bucket. You use the smallest tool that fits the volume for maximum precision.
The Problem: Using a large 3mL syringe for a tiny 0.1mL dose leads to massive margin of error and "dead space" waste.

2. The Precision Tool: Understanding Needle Gauge & Length
The needle is the bridge between your vial and the research subject. Selecting the right "gauge" (thickness) and length is the difference between a seamless experience and unnecessary tissue trauma.
The Gauge (Thickness)
In the world of needles, the higher the number, the thinner the needle. Think of it like a narrow driveway: a higher gauge (31G) is like a bicycle path: low impact and easy to navigate. A lower gauge (25G) is like a multi-lane highway: it moves more fluid but requires more "roadwork" (insertion pressure).
- 31G: The ultra-fine standard. Minimal discomfort, perfect for thin, water-based solutions.

The Length

- 8mm (5/16"): The traditional length. Still very effective, but may require a 45-degree angle if the research subject is very lean.
3. The Blueprint: Units-to-ML Conversion
One of the biggest frustrations for new researchers is the "Unit" vs. "mL" confusion. Consider "Units" as the currency and "mL" as the physical weight of the money. In a standard U-100 syringe:
100 Units = 1.0 mL
To find your mL volume, simply divide the units by 100.

This is your primary defense. BAC water contains 0.9% Benzyl Alcohol, which acts like a "guard dog" for your solution. It doesn't necessarily kill all bacteria, but it prevents them from reproducing.
- Maintenance: Once punctured, a vial of peptide reconstituted with BAC water is typically stable for 28 days if refrigerated.
- Safety: The gold standard for multi-dose vials.
Sterile Water
This is "clean" water with no preservatives. Once you puncture the vial, the clock starts ticking immediately.

5. The Environment: pH & Stability
Peptides are delicate zippers of amino acids. If the environment is too acidic or too alkaline, those "zippers" come apart (degrade). This is why the pH of your solvent matters.
The Problem: Some low-quality solvents have wildly fluctuating pH levels that can "denature" or destroy your peptide before it even leaves the vial.
The Solution: Most research peptides are happiest in a slightly acidic to neutral environment (pH 4.5 to 7.0). BAC water naturally sits in this range.
- Prevention: Avoid mixing different peptides in the same syringe unless specified, as the change in pH can cause them to clump (precipitate).
- Monitoring: While most researchers don't need to test pH daily, staying with high-quality, lab-grade BAC water ensures your "software" stays functional.
